Nutrition consultations are based on the sciences of nutrition, which can be applied in various medical areas, including:

  • Aesthetic Medicine, for weight loss or gain, with a focus on reducing body fat and increasing muscle mass;
  • Traditional Medicineaiming to prevent the onset of certain diseases and, either alone or in conjunction with other medical specialties, assist in the treatment of an individual’s pathological state by altering dietary habits and lifestyle factors that may have contributed to their current health condition;
  • Complementary Medicinesor those who choose a macrobiotic, vegetarian, or ovo-lacto-vegetarian diet and wish to balance their nutrient intake.

In a nutrition consultation, the following assessments are typically conducted:

  • Body Mass Index (BMI);
  • Total body fat percentage;
  • Total body fat percentage;
  • Degree of visceral fat;
  • Basal metabolic rate (BMR).

Major Pathologies/Diseases

Overweight; childhood and adult obesity; underweight; muscle mass increase for athletes; reduction of body fat; endocrine disorders (e.g., hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism); anemia; Type I, II, and gestational diabetes; hypoglycemia; weight management during pregnancy; dyslipidemia; cardiovascular diseases; gastrointestinal issues (e.g., gastroesophageal reflux, bloating, abdominal swelling, irritable bowel syndrome, food intolerances, flatulence, constipation, diarrhea); osteoarticular disorders; eating behavior disorders (anorexia, bulimia).

Common Symptoms/Signs

Recent or gradual weight gain, recent or gradual weight loss, changes in normal clinical test parameters, depression, constipation, diarrhea, a feeling of abdominal bloating, feeling of fullness after even light meals.
