Aesthetic medicine, aimed at weight loss or gain with a corresponding reduction in fat mass and an increase in muscle mass;
Traditional medicine, focused on preventing the onset of certain diseases and, either alone or in conjunction with other medical specialities, helping to treat an individual’s pathological condition by modifying the eating habits and lifestyle factors that may have contributed to their current state of health;
Complementary medicine, for those who follow a macrobiotic, vegetarian, or lacto-ovo-vegetarian diet and wish to balance their nutrient intake.
During a nutrition consultation, the following are assessed:
- Body mass index (BMI)
- Total fat mass percentage
- Total muscle mass percentage
- Degree of visceral fat
- Basal metabolic rate (BMR)
